Re: wire identification ?
hi all, i installed my factory gauge wiring harness and sending units today. all the wires reached the senders perfect. now my factory gauges work great. i also removed the aftermarket gauges. looks much better to me now. the alternator harness i ordered does not fit my 67 my old harness has a square plug where it plugs to the main harness (about 1"x1" ) the new harness has the flat blade type plug. im not sure what the deal is with the different harness plugs mabey i can take some pics of both harnesses and someone can tell me whats up.

Re: wire identification ?
the square plug is for the camper special wiring. i had one heck of a time finding one for my truck. but i finally found one. it came from a 69 camper special. the flat plug is wrong. because it only has three wires going to the flat plug not 4 like you need.

Re: wire identification ?
so do you think my 67 has a 69 camper special harness on it. the harness is 100% intact no splices no cuts not even trailer lights. my brake warning light harness at the prv has 2 wires also ? doesnt a 67 have 1 wire there ? also i was looking at my new 67 turnsignal switch and the wire colors are a little bit different in color. although the switch is still the same. thanks jpfordman wrote:the square plug is for the camper special wiring. i had one heck of a time finding one for my truck. but i finally found one. it came from a 69 camper special. the flat plug is wrong. because it only has three wires going to the flat plug not 4 like you need.

Re: wire identification ?
the brake warning light was changed mid year 1967. so you could have two wires no problem. you have a 67 camper special wiring harness.

Re: wire identification ?
here is the mess i went through. i coul dnot find a new one or coul di get any ebad selle to even consider responding to my questions about the correct harness. they just exspected you to buy thier junk and then sit and spin on it since it was wrong in the first place. i had to get mine from a junkyard truck. and i really had to talk the guy into it. because it was a private yard. and he wouldnt let anyone do or buy anything. i had to tell him i had no other choice than hopping he had one. and he only had 1. the rest of his trucks werent for a camper special. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... quare+plug
