Best way to fix it is to buy a new turn signal switch. I tried replacing the cam in mine, but it just wasn't meant to be...

NOS ones come up on ebay once in a while, and usually for a decent price.

You may even get lucky and find one at a Ford dealership. I'm pretty sure they're still available, and the price isn't too outrageous. Someone here on the forum bought one recently, but I don't remember all of the details.

One other avenue, the one I used, is http://www.shee-mar.com I bought one from them about 5 years ago. I think I paid around 50 bucks for it. The quality is GREAT, it fit right, the wiring was right, and it's been working perfectly ever since.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.--Plato
Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

I got it fixed :woohoo: . Turns out that the new exhaust was rubbing on a loos e wire of the old trailer hitch causing the system to short out when the truck was moving, but not int he garage. So all I did was carefully wrapped the wires, and ziptied them to the frame to keep them away from the exhaust. So Robroy, I suggest you check for grounds/shorts, cause maybe that's what's making your short too. Did you change anything recently on the truck?

Thanks for the great suggestion! You were right--it turned out to be a short caused by a smashed wire right under the steering wheel. And as for changing stuff on the truck, there aren't very many parts of the truck that haven't been changed since Summer 2008 (when I began the tear-down)! I guess that's the trouble with changing so many things all at once; problems can involve a large number of variables.

1971Blue390, thanks for replying to my post, and I'm happy that we both resolved our signal issues!!!
