Re: 24 volts to the starter?
something is wrong. this truck hates me i think. it would not screw up so i could check out what was wrong. it kept working like it is suppose to work. it started every time. its probably because i took the wires and starter off of a junkyard truck. and it knows it. so it wont screw up since i have to keep the parts on my shelf in case it breaks down. when i throw the parts out. the truck will quit again. i guarantee it. mother f er.

Fordman, jump the starter relay with single jumper cable. If the contacts in the relay are pitted and "dirty" you will have this issue with low voltage to starter. If it works each time with jumper cable replace relay.

Re: 24 volts to the starter?
i have tried that. it didnt work either. i am thinking it is and still is or was a bad connection someplace. i havent messed with it since i posted last. i had the starter off and that connection may have been dirty. because once i put the starter back on and rehooked the battery it started right up. but i also recleaned the battery and cables in that truck. the battery as dirty as the posts were (not very dirty) (greyish not silver) worked fine in my other truck. and the other trucks cables were just as dirty as this trucks cables.
