charging.

Post by one_am »

No power to 35 at alternator
35 wire test good
Power on 904
power on 152
The voltage when running is 11 and drops slowly, when i jumper 35 and 152 it goes to 12.( isn;t it supposed to be around 14-16v)

My question is. Is my voltage regulator and my alternator bad?

P.S. reman alternator just over a year old.

Try the full field test towards the bottom of the page.
My truck wasn't charging, so I bypassed the volt regulator and I was getting 17v at idle.
I replaced the volt regulator and now everything is working.

the regulator controls charging. the alternator only gives the power that the regulator requests. that is how i understand it. if only the wife wouldnt charge. everything might be better.
