ok here's an update.
I didn't get as much as i wanted done by today but its something. It's putting me in a pinch to meet my expected drive-it-to-school date of this Friday
I told my dad yesterday that hopefully it will be my DD by friday and he said there's no way.
I am hoping to prove him wrong!
THe main reason for being a little delayed is because i spent 75% of a weekend day working on just the dash harness. It was already installed but i didn't like the splices that were done in some places and it was thrown in there a little too fast. So i pulled it out, re-wrapped a lot of it, Cut the ignition plug off because it was loose and wouldn't let teh truck start earlier, went to the junkyard and got a new plug, wired it in, used a million zip ties and really made it look nice in there
yadda yadda.....
I also installed a delay wiper setup. Velcro'd the box to the steering column brace, trimmed and shaved the shaft and done.
I decided instead of paying $120 to install the rear rubber w/trim i bought a new rubber without trim from NPD this morning. I can install that myself.
I have a guy coming over tomorrow morning to install my windshield for $100.
I scored a good carpet/firweall cover set from the junkyard for $10. Cut out the shifter holes and put that in. Also got the firewall cover up in there by removing and re-installing some things on top of it.
Then I installed the heater. the control cables are FUBAR so i took them out and just put the control unit in just to use the fan switch. I will plug the fan switch in so i can turn the fan on and i will lock the heater in the on and defrost position. Then I don't even need the controls. I'll wait to by some new ones.
I put the seat in, and started looking a the seatbelt situation... can't wait to get those in. They're pretty.
Then I finished bolting up the exhaust and bolting the engine in and a few other things, then my brother helped drag the front clip around the house and drop that on. I then installed the radiator, battery, cables, plugs, fan, spacer, alternator, MC/booster, etc.
I'll be getting the seat covered in vinyl sometime....
oh and i put the doors on
As soon as the truck is drivable i'll sneak it down to the welding shop and install the tank. Hopefully wednesday or Thursday.
My favorite kind of picture now, the kind where you can see the spotless chassis
Almost everything is hooked up. Front turn signals, headlights, wiper squirter, speedo, reverse switch, etc. By simply attaching the ground cable and extending the coil wires the truck should fire right up. That will be tomorrow. And another 10 minutes to bleed the brakes and it will be driving. I do have the rear wheels off it now though because i have to pull the drums and clean them out from sand getting in.
The only thing that can hold me back from driving it around town friday is if i am not able to install the mustang tank fast enough if my boss is busy or something... in which case i could drop the bed back on and use the incab tank thats already bolted inside the bed. But then we have to put the bed back on and take it back off and thats no fun.
