Ford steering wheel cover

Post by Mancar1 »

The cover I put on the 68's steering wheel fits a wheel 2 sizes or so smaller than my stock one. Took me about 2 hours of playing with it to get this one to fit. Been on there for a while now and I love it. All it took was my propane torch and a lot of patience. My buddy told me I couldn't do it. I won a 12 pack on the bet.

i was told to throw them in the oven so they would stretch when you were putting them on.

fordman, good idea. That would give a overall even heat. Put on gloves and stretch it. Good tip, better than the torch. But hey it worked. Probably took me a lot longer than your oven idea.

Looks good. I want to cover my wheel because its too dang cold and it stays cold while my cab is warm from the heater. I think some nice material wrapped around it would do the trick.

When I am told I can't do it, I try harder and more often than not I get it done. That is a method my wife has known for years. She just mentions the project is a little to much to take on, so I do it and we both win. With the Steering wheel cover, it was like putting a 15" tire on a 16" wheel  The Ford logo cover was only $6. on a clearance rack. Could'nt pass it up.
