Junk yard seat belts

Post by mkpj1 »

Anybody scavenged seat belts with shoulder harness that fits our bumps? I have a junkyard here that I can pretty much pick the year and type of vehicle to pull some belts out of. Anybody done it. I've looked at some late model F150's and explorer's etc.. They have the retractors tucked in the space between the door frame and back of cab. Should be easy to fab a bracket to mount the retractor. I searched the topic and found where I could buy some new belts but I can probably get them from the junk yard for a for a 10th of what I would pay new.

Keith posted some pictures showing belts from a Dodge truck that look like they would be a piece of cake to install.

I took a set out of a 94' regular cab truck. I did have to make a mount for the retractor and drill out the shoulder mount, but they work and look great. Sorry I don't have any pictures yet. I'll try to get a pic soon.

I ended up doing the same. I think is was about the same year. My shoulder holes were drill so all I needed to do was make a mounting bracket for the retractor. Work nice! Thanks!
