Hey guys, I was wondering what if any differences there was in a C6 for a 4 wheel drive vs a C6 for a 2 Wheel drive. I have a 2 wheel drive c6, but want to put one behind a 4 wheel drive. Anyone wanna swap? Have one to get rid of?
Thanks in advance. By the way I want to put it behind my 390 so whatever it takes to go along those lines.

The tail shafts are different depending on if you want a devorced case or a married case. I am not sure if the tail shafts on the 2x verses 4x C6/devorced case are different in length. They are when it comes to the hydro 350.
460crew might know.

re: C6 Transmissions differences?
460 or anyone else know exactly what the difference is? I have a parts truck just sitting here with a c6 attached to a 390 that could be used if the only difference was a tail housing that could be found....That way I could go to column shift.
By the way, the c6 will be attached to a 390 and I have a Dana 24 divorced transfer case just to set the stage of what I have and need...

Yep the tailshaft will need to be swapped out, That is what had to happen on mine and it has the mounting point for the 4X4 shifter and might be a little shorter. You'll also need to move the tranny crossmember back an inch or 2 as the 435 mounting point is too close. As far as the cradle crossmember that runs under the tranny pan you'll need a C6 4x4 crossmeber to accomidate a C6 4x4 trans pan with the adapter that goes inside for the pickup, this is about 1.5in deeper than the 2wd version. Both of these and the correct tailshaft should be found in a 75-77 F250 equipped with a auto.
