Replaced shift collar now truck won't start
Hi, can anyone please help me trouble shoot this issue. I have recently replaced my shift Collar on my 1971 F250, after doing so, I tried to start it up and it will not even crank? Any reason why? Thanks

pull the lever tothe left when you crank the key. if it starts you need to readjust your neutral safety switch on the top part of the lower column.

Re: Replaced shift collar now truck won't start
Been there several times! What probably happened is when you pulled the collar, the spring on the bottom of the shift tube will push the tube up, breaking the little finger off that moves your neutral switch. It snaps onto the shift tube and sticks out of a rectangular hole in the top of the steering column. I haven't done one for years, so I don't know if they are still available.

Perfect! Thanks.
Any suggestions on how to remove the pin that holds the gear selector into the shift collar?

it snaps in. so it should snap out too. take a screwdriver and pry on one side that is snapped in.

Re: Replaced shift collar now truck won't start
It looks more like an expansion type of pin. Is it safe to drive it out with a hammer and screwdriver?

Ah, youre talking about the NSS selector.
I was asking for suggestions on how to remove the gear selector from the shift collar in part two of the post.

Re: Replaced shift collar now truck won't start
drive the pin out wiht a punch and a hammer. my 67 doesnt have a shifter on the collar right now. so yo ujust grab the collar and twist it. i use the parking brake or shut it off when in park though. but i also have only drove it once since i got it a few years ago. 10 miles and the radiator exploded. it was green as heck. it was ready to blow up.
