Re: 4X4X4 LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
Hey 'all! It has been a long while. The work thang has been gettin the best of me lately but here is the latest progress and news.
As I promised, here is the before and after of dads '58 fairlane 500. We did the complete interior and paint in 6 months. it made the show at Reno last August and we had a great time cruising around!
I FINALLY got around to finishing the hood on my truck and working towards getting it running.
The hood...
I filled in the holes for the letter mounting. I will keep the hood lip moulding though
A detail of the hood hinge
started the complete rewire of the entire truck
Here is a shot of the new fuel lines. I hand bent all the lines front to back. Here they are at the tank switch.
I hope to fire this thing up by March 1. then it heads over to get pipes and mufflers. What mufflers sound the best on these??
More pics to follow soon!

My vote is for Spintech Pro-Streets. I am a little biased since that's what I'm running, but I can tell you that they have a great chambered muffler sound like a flowmaster or similar but have almost zero interior drone at any rpm. I love mine, and I've used just about every type of muffler known to man. Just my

Spintechs huh? Where did you get those at Joe? I like the "zero drone" idea. Been thinking of new exhaust for mine also. Hmmmmmm

Here is the link to the pro streets: http://www.spintechmufflers.com/muffler ... at_23.html
At $85 they are a bit pricey, but I bought mine from this guy on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPINTECH ... ccessories
It saved me a few bucks after shipping. Mine have held up well and still sound as good as the day they were put on a few years ago.

Hey Todd, I am hoping to use 17 or 18 inch american racing 10 hole style with 35's any tires bigger than that will rub the bottom of the fenders.zakt wrote:looking good, decide on rim/tire size?? Look forward to seeing your 4x4 conversion take shape. When next Hot August Nights comes round we can take up a whole city block with our trucks parked end to end

Re: 4X4X4 LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
Thanks for the kind words!
Here is a few pics of the cooling system. I am using a Ron Davis aluminum four core radiator and a fan kit from Derale that pulls 4000 cfm through the radiator. Come summer this will be working very hard to keep things cool out here.
I chose to make the transmission cooler a stand alone unit. this is a kit from summt. I mounted it to the inside of the frame. it has its own electric fan and pulls 550 cfm. the hoses are braided stainless steel.
Tomorrow I will start the motor up for the first time
