trying to remove vent window but having trouble removing the set screw that is attached to the track:
Is there a way to remove this part? An allen wrench won't do the job... Hard to get vise grips around it without damaging something. TIA for help with this!!!!
edit: looked at door tutorial and it looks like the set screw is on the inside of the door in the tutorial pics but on the outside on my truck???
yes that does seem wrong . i looked at one i have here. it does kind of looks like a allen wrench could fit in there. but why it isnt coming is because the threads are rusty where it goes into the vent window run channel. so you might try spraying some pb blaster in there to break loose the rust and try again later or maybe in a day or two after it has soaked.
Try soaking it in penetrating fluid, Liquid Wrench, WD40 or the like. Yes, it has an Allen Head and is a special adjuster screw for the lower window track. It looks like you've already removed the pinch nut. Let it soak and work it back and forth. Spray it up some more. Work it.... If you simply try to torque it out, you will damage something.
One of my trucks had the wrong bolt there, the window barely moved cause the adjustment was wrong. After I put the correct screw in (having a parts truck rocks!) i was able to adjust the track and the window opens and closes as expected now.

I think the official name for "star" is "Torques Drive" (spelling optional). The seatbelt bolts in my trucks are Torques Drive. Torques Drive was invented for use with robot assembly.
