Re: removal of dash pad
heres a section from another post - searching for 'dashpad removal' worked great
this shows where it is bolted to the dash - the studs are captive in the pad - although mine fell apart as the pad was too cracked and worn

The slots allow you to slide the pad forward a little after removing the nuts from the dashpad studs, so that it will clear the windshield when during removal.

thanks

Re: removal of dash pad
They are easy to remove. I think there is like ten nuts to take off. Gently push up on the studs to clear the slots along the window. You should be able to pull it forward and get the couple along the front to come out. It shelps to remove your instrument panel too for easy access.

14 total nuts is what it takes . dont forget the one on the face of the dash behind the instrument cluster ashtray / radio area and the glove box.

If you are wanting to preserve it be careful taking it off. Mine stuck to the metal so, i use a metal ruler and slid it under the dash. I didn't have in mind i was keeping it but, i didn't want to destroy it either. just in case I wanted to make a mold or do something with it.
