You could use a Ford setup. They had dealer options or even the whole works off of a part truck or car. Pretty simple to hook up. Only real snag is changing the end on your speedo cable so it'll click into the cruise speedo pickup. You can use the wheel from a dent with the cruise buttons.

I have a dealer installed version from a '80's Ranger we parted out.

I some parts out of an 89 Grand Marquis and some out of an 80s Econoline Van installed it in my truck. My steering column is out of the Van es well so the hookups where correct. It works good but like Ranchero50 says, you'll need a different speedo cable. I need to get the correct cable too because I've been driving it for a while without my speedo working.

I haven't tried it but I keep hoping that if the situation arises it would work. Better though to not get into such situation.

The cable ends is easy, use a propsne torch to heat the crimped metal sheath ring a bit, then slide the plastic sheath out. Swap the ends and use some grazy glue to hold the new end on. Takes about ten minutes to do.

just get the cable from the trans to the sensor from a dentside with cruise or one with a speed sensor. you can get a custom cable for 20.00 plus shipping off of ebay for the other half. or make your own top half.

I've been looking at 78-79 F150 setups off Ebay and considered doing this but none of the setups seem to have all the necessary parts. Anyone have a write up/tutorial with pictures?
