Went to pick n pull today and found some gems. Got a new radio bezel and Ranger emblem for the glove box. And picked up some exhaust manifolds that are in better shape then my originals.
I was also looking for a rear view mirror because mine was destroyed. Found a bunch of different kinds and would like to know which one I should pull. I am looking for parts for a '69 F250 Ranger Camper Special. Heres what I found:
There are three different mirrors I think; I just need to know which one is for my application.
Now the real gem I found was a manual AM radio out of a '69 F250. Its the same one I took the bezel off of. I would have taken it out then but I couldn't figure out how. And I know someone here has done this before. I'm not sure if this is the one that would go with my truck because I have a Ranger and the donor truck is standard. I figure if they are going to stick a radio in a Ranger they would install one with the station select buttons, but what do I know. Well heres a pic of it. Let me know what it takes to remove these.
ok mirrors are liek this. 67 only. 68/69 only. 70-72 only. but the 70-72 may be similar to the 73-79. i dont know. the original 68/69 had a split collar that held the mirror to the windshiled ball. it had screws in the collar to hold the collar together. i have seen other collars with the narrow 68/69 mirrors. that didnt have a split collar with screws. they may have been a replacement type of mirror. the width of your mirror coinsides with the sun visors too. the 68/69 mirros has wider visors than the 70-72 trucks. they also had the nonsplit collar. picture number 7 is a original 68/69 mirror for sure. because of the screw in the collar. if there are many more out there with the screw in the collar get them. others on the site have asked me about buying some if i had them. picture 4 looks like a 70-72 type because of how wide it is.
Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to pull that the next time I'm out there. It's too bad that the junkyard is something like 50 miles away. I wish the more local yard had more bumps. Do you know anything about the radio I posted a picture of? I know that a lot of people want to find an original one to put in their trucks and was thinking I could pull it for someone. I don't know yet if I want to keep a stock radio in the dash and stick a cdplayer under the seat, or just install the cdplayer in the dash and junk the radio I have now because it's not original.
Also, the '67 style rear view mirror mounted to the sun visor bracket correct? Because I saw one in a 72 truck and was thinking it was out of place. Of course someone could have done a cab swap or just grabbed the wrong mirror in the past.

the radio looks original . but the numbers on it would tell all. im not sure what kind of radio i am going to put in my truck. i have the original radio. and a fm converter i could use.
Removing the radio is kind of a pain. The things that hold the radio are nuts under the dials and a support bracket that is attached on the left side and in the center of the rear of the radio. You have to take the cardboard out of the glove box and pull it out through there.
