Heater Box Removal

So I have a non-AC Heater Box in my cab. I'd like to remove it and paint it and readjust my cable...etc. Any helpful advice?

What year truck do you have? On my 68 there were three mounting bolts on the firewall and the two heater hoses.

Yep, it's that easy. Remove the two heater hoses and three nuts on the outer firewall and it's out.

Sorry to highjack the thread, but whats the difference in a non a/c box an just a heater box? I have a a/c box i assume because the truck had a/c

How do you remove the heater hoses? Do you have to drain anything?

so overall this is just a quick unbolt from the fire wall, drop the duct hose an cables an out she comes on the three different types of boxes?

pretty much. the factory a/c box is alot heavier and larger.

Just to clarify...you don't need to drain the entire cooling system. You can probably just catch what you can from the two heater hoses and then top it off when the job is done. Take some care when pulling on the hoses to get them free...you don't want to damage the heater core!

if you cut the hoses off the heater core outlets you won't have to worry about destroying the core itself
