Stock RPM swap?

Post by hotrod ford »

I have a stock RPM gauge for a F600 cluster. It has the port that would connect to a mechanical distr. It will not work on my elec. distr. So, could I gut it and replace the enternals with an after market RPM gauge so it will match my speedo and vacumn gauge in my stock F600 cluster?

If you mean can you take it out and replace it with one that will work for you. Sure if you find one that fits and you like the looks of it. Your speedo, tach., and vac gage all run off different sources.
May your sails stay full, and your knots not slip. Unless a slip knot.

Mancar1, what I want to do is keep the casing of the stock rpm and replace the enternals so the face looks stock the same as the others. I understand that they work off of different systems, so thats no issue.

Not that this is any help but I remember someone doing that very thing a few years back but don't know who it was. It should not be to hard. If you want to just get a new tach that matches I found that the factory tach in my CJ 7 jeep matches the f600 gauges pretty darn close. If you want to look at them there are usually some on ebay. Just a thought.
