I once bought a few yards of camo from a fabric shop an made a sweet headliner for my Cherokee. Just pulled down the partical board/cardboard headliner an glued an stapled the ends on it. Turned out great an still looks good ill try an get a pic of it for you

That just it, I need the partical board/cardboard headliner. Has anyone ever made it out of wood?

check this out http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 58#p556058

but for a backer board. you can get apiece from a junkyard and use that as your backer material. just get it from a van or suv and cut you one piece pattern out of that.

Oh.. im sure you can find some fourm of thin board to use in place of the factory stuff. Just going to be alot of trial an error to get it to fit just right

there is a post somewhere in this forum about a guy whos used a piece of smoth frp from home depot as the backer beard. from what i remember it was a pretty clean install. frp is the thin plastic material you see on the wall in gas station bathrooms.

I did mine. I used door skin from home depot and covered it with vinyl. I cut the ford and flames with foam and glued those on first then put the vinyl over it.

I used cardboard from a large box. I used contact cement to attach that padded vinyl diamond button tuft upholstery to it. I used the original screws and trim to mount it. I'm making and installing a small overhead console which will also help hold it in place.

My dad decided to make a new one for my pickup one day when he was bored and even using the old one as a template it took a couple of tries to get it and even after the second try there were still gaps on the back corners. He just bought some thin white veneer in a sheet at Home Depot, probably was door stuff mentioned above. It's too bad there isn't a template out there to use so you could get it right the first time around, even using the old one as a template it was dried up and warped so it didn't come out perfectly. The one thing I would like to change though is adding a sound deadener between the two, just a thought.
