Bucket seat brackets and seats

Post by hotrod ford »

I know that 65-70 or so Mustang seats fit the special brackets for our trucks. With that, could I use seats from a mid 70 to late 80 Mustang? If so I'm sure I would need to modify the tracks. What would I need to do to make this work?

do you have the bucket seat brackets already?
or- do you have the seats already??
more than likely they (the newer seats) would work, and probably the most you'd have to do would be to drill a couple of holes and throw in a few bolts if the stock ones didn't didn't line up

The brackets will be here soon. The carpet is done in my cab and I have always wanted buckets so now is the time. Anyway, it seems really hard to find mid-late 60's lowback seats for these brackets, but the pnp sells seats for 16 dollars a seat. They have late 70's Mustang seats that are in good shape. I'm just not sure if they will work with the brackets.

the low backed seats hit the back of the cab almost. so high backed buckets will definetly hit the cab. and sit more upright than you want them too.

The good thing is if I have to use high backs is that I'm taking out the cab tank. Also, I wonder if Mustang II or Maverick seats will work?

the seat backs on the low back buckets i have come up almost level to the window (about the same as a bench),changing out the tank won't make any difference in the clearance you'll have

...i have run high back buckets before (from a toyota celica or something like that) on some fabbed up brackets
and also had a nasty old one ton with some digusting massive velour buckets out of a 70's boat like a t-bird - like fordman said you'll definitely have to keep the seats in the full upright position (unless you put the seat forward fully)

i would personally try getting low backs with adjustable headrests ,so you could bend the headrest mounts to clear the window
