Removing Heater and Speakers.

Post by SteelCowboy »

I want this hideous thing out of my '68.
I absolutely hate it... with a passion.
Has anyone removed it before? Any advice?
Thank you.

Thats the very rare, dealer option, UFO Repellent Device. While it is not the most attractive looking item, it does prevent you from being caught in a tractor beam and anally probed. Go ahead and take that fugly thing outta your truck, but drive late at night with caution and stay off long, remote, desolate roads when you have had a few beers. As long as you do that, you should be fine without that in your truck.

Ditto Fordman: "WTF"?
It looks like an electrostatic air cleaner, I swear it!
I think someone actually installed an electronic air cleaner in your truck.
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Definitely will not harm the structural integrity to remove.

i wondered that too. the mor ei think abou tit the more i think it may be aspeaker tube with foam insulation to keep the reveb from th erear of the speakers from coming out. you may want to just keep it and use it liek that. unless it is really in th eway. then it coul dbe moved to behind or under the seat. maybe in the drivers cab corner.

Maybe the PO was a smoker and installed that to clear the air for the Misses, or vice versa  I don't blame you 4 wanting it out. I'd rather have one of these in my Bump.

To let everyone know...
It was a speaker. It works fine, could be recovered.
If anyone wants it I'll ship it to you.
It's just on the garage wall with all the other pulls, licence plates, and whatnot.
It's pretty cool after the fact, but I didn't like the look of it.
Sounded pretty good, as well.

Yep, that gets the FUGLY award for the week LOL!
You said something about removing the heater?
Wouldn't recommend that cause then you'd have no defroster. :D
