Recovering a Dentside Bench Seat with Bumside Covering

Post by UNCLE BOO »

Hi, all!

I have a 1968 F100 that I am restoring, which the PO tore the bench seat out of it and set in (not bolted in) a red velour split-bench power seat from an 80's Mercury Marquis. I quickly pulled that out and set it aside for resale / trash, whatever. Anyway, I have a donor 1976 F100 that I want to swap the bench seat out of and into the '68. I know from other threads, etc. that this is a simple swap. I will fix up the 76's seat springs and cushions before recovering. My question is, will a replacement bumpside seat cover (like from LMC / NPD) fit on that '76 bench with no major problems? Those bench seats sure look the same to me.

Thanks!

the seat are the same in shape so it should work. the only thing i can think of might be different is the amount of cushioning in them.

Thanks, fordman. I was pretty sure they would work. The '76 was an old beater farm truck, so the seats are "well used". I was planning to re-cushion that bench seat anyway. I am sure I can make the new cushioning fit the '68 covers nicely....I just didn't want the new covers to have a poor fit (if the seats were too different in shape).

Thanks again!
