Re: Steering wheel repair
The steering wheel repair kits use an epoxy to fill in the cracks, and then you'd need to sand it down and paint it, just like a regular body panel.
Here's one at POR-15.com:

Re: Steering wheel repair
I just did mine. The cracks weren't too bad. I used glazing putty (evercoat brand). For the groves I sanded them with 220 grit wrapped around a toothpick. I also used toothpicks to apply the filler.
I painted it with SPI Epoxy Black. Turned out great.

Re: Steering wheel repair
Would JB-Weld work to fill in the cracks instead?

Re: Steering wheel repair
I've never actually tried JB Weld, but I'd have to think that because the steering wheel and the JB Weld are made of different materials, they're going to expand/contract and different rates and end up cracking again.

Re: Steering wheel repair
I watched this the other day. Pretty good tutorial regardless of the material you use to patch it. There's two parts to the video.
