electric windows

Post by newb70f250camper »

Has anyone ever purchase the electric window kit from LMC? Was it hard to install and does it work well? How about the remote entry door locks? :?

I've heard REALLY good things about this company: http://nu-relics.com/ft68_72.html

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

:yt: I put these in my chevelle. They may cost a little more, but they have life time warranty and are made very well. I don't have anything bad to say about them. When I put power windows in my 69 ranger I will use these again.

I think LMC's kits essentially just put a motor on your stock window set-up. It looks to me like it would make your window handles spin on their own, but i'm not positive; and i'm not sure where the switches would go.

I tried a kit and got some AutoLoc switches that should have turned my window handles into the switches. But I was never able to make the motor and hardware all fit a good enough. maybe if i were a welder and could have fabricated some brackets and such...

Next I tried a kit supposedly for a 67 Ford pickup from A1 Electric in Torrance, CA (www.a1electric.com). It should have just bolted in and left me to determine what to do with the original holes for the window handles and where to put the switches. But for some reason their 68 Ford pickup didn't fit MY 67 Ford (technically Mercury, but mechanically the same) pickup. So I sent it back.

In the long run...it's easier - although less cool - to just crank them up and down by hand.

(anyone want to buy a power window kit w/ AutoLoc switches??)

thanks. you gave me an idea on how to do these by myelf. i liek the idea of the handle spinning. but it isnt right to do that. a switch would be the way to use the handle. since the rivets on the handel mech can be drilled out. you could remove the gear from the splines on the crank mech. and hook up a motor directly to the arm gear. then a micro switch would just nee to be made that is acuated by the handle.

I took window motors for a 1977 mercury grand marquis and modified the window regulator to fit the motor. I have checked them and they are going to work great when I get the truck done.
