67 door mechanism

I've heard you can't swap guts from 67 door to later models.
I know they're different handles and locks but had someone tell me they've done it.
I have 71 door but don't want to tear it up if i can't swap out the handles etc. What's the final word guys?

I reckon the window guts will swap. Ive never heard of anyone successfully swapping the door handle guts without cutting the inner door framing. Thatd get into a real mess. Wont say impossible but Id bet it would be a mess to do and may never quite work right if you did. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.
