Steering Wheel
I have a 1972 F100 and for some reason even with a wheel puller i cant remove my steering wheel. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem as well and if so or not can anyone inform me as to how to remove the wheel..

Re: Steering Wheel
I have seen guy's at work pull on the wheel while they hit it with an air chisell. Just keep the nut on so you don't flare the end of the column. Oh... and don't use the chissel bit. use the round ended one.

Re: Steering Wheel
With the nut on and tension on the puller, smack the hex end of the puller with a brass hammer.

Re: Steering Wheel
you can use several methods. smacking the end of the puller will sometimes pop it right off. putting your legs under the wheel and pulling upards whiel turning the wrench can do it also. using a impact to runt he hex head down will do the job too. no matter what you do. make sure the puller is centered ont he shaft and that the bolts are fimrly in the wheel before doing and thing more than a wrench to turn the hex head on the puller.

Re: Steering Wheel
i tried hitting the hex and when i did the bolts holding the puller striped out...
so now what do i do?
i was guessing i may have to replace the whole steering column

Re: Steering Wheel
get longer bolts and put them back in there. you may have to runa tap into the holes to clean up the threads.
