Seat swap

Post by fonfixer »

My 17 year old totaled my '03 this morning :( he walked away without a scratch :) :). We were truly thankful today. The '03 has been paid for a couple of years and had full coverage. How difficult do ya'll think it would be swap seats? The seat in the '67 is out of a '64?, I just had to keep the rails from the original seat. But if I can get the leather seat from the '03 how cool would that be. The '03 has four rails while the '67/'64 combo only has two rails. Will the tires swap? 15" on the '67 and 17" on the '03, that'd be just to good if they did.

Hey, fonfixer!

Take a look at the Tech Articles and Tutorials section at this site and scroll down to "Factory Ford Pickup Seats". That will pretty much tell you what you will be faced with seats-wise. As far as the wheels / tires question, I believe the simple swap cut-off year was 1996 or 1997. You have to watch out for the wheel's off-set....it will have to match what you currently have....as I understand it. Lug bolt pattern / spacing is the other issue. :)

A simple tape measurer answered my question about tire swap, 1/4 inch difference in spacing between lugs. Talked to my dad and he reminded my that with a big enough hammer anything will fit, regarding the seat. Besides my '67 is has sever rust and i wouldn't feel bad about welding here and there to get the end product that I want.

Not going to worry with trying to swap seats, after the settlement the insurance company offered the '03 back to me for $2k! Umm...Hell NO! I can go to a junk yard and get seats a lot cheaper then that. Besides, I got a 2011 F150 crew cab with a little tiny V6, with ECOBOOST! It rocks. The '67 always has been a project truck, not a daily driver. Its factory original, looks like hammered crap but original hammered crap so I guess I'll keep it that way.
