Taking the dash pad off

Post by 1970offroadf100 »

I have a 1970 ford f100 but my dash pad is cracked. I don't want to spend the few hundred dollars to buy a brand new pad so i was wondering if its just metal underneath the pad that would look good or what. I haven't had the time to take it off and look yet so I wondered if anybody has taken it off and had any pictures of what it might look like. Thanks!

Might try searching this topic, I know I saw one on here the other day. I have the same problem but am looking at the dash pad covers. Looks like regular dash pad but slips over the old one. I know there are several rectangle holes to weld up to make a smooth dash.

you can see and reach many of the dash pad nuts if you take out the ash tray unit and glove box

sun glare can be a prob without a pad, but you can get dash covers for that.

On another forum a member had lap belts only and in his case had a dash bar for the roll cage. Needless to say they came to an abrupt stop and the girl riding in the middle is now sporting dentures. For my wifes sake I will keep some form of padding.
