Under dash A/C opinion

Post by sargentrs »

Any of these look worthy? I know I'll need other stuff but the evap units the high dollar item. Everything else I can get aftermarket at reasonable pricing.

and I think this one would really look good and freeze your bells off!

When I end up finishing the ac in my truck I will use this company. If you scroll down that have an original looking one for less that $300. Others can be had for cheaper.

I'll probably wind up going with their OEM style 67-72 complete kit. After pricing all the other components I'd need I really wouldn't save that much buying a cheaper evap and configuring my own. Added benefit is knowing everything is compatible and ..... installation directions! Good luck!

you may want to talk to these guys too. I bought a complete unit from them and am really pleased with the way it turned out. There are lots of variations as to what you can do.

Yeah, I've checked that out. A bit out of my budget but looks like a good system. Thanks!

I have a Clardy unit it matches the contour of the dash, I am very pleased with it. You can find them on ebay sometimes pretty cheap. One sold last week for 40 bucks.

Sent you a PM, David!

So how'd you put that all together, Troy? Did you get it complete with all the components or just the evap unit and get the other stuff aftermarket? And did you convert it to R134? Thanks for the input!

I have an old Hiboy parts truck that I got the pulley, condenser, and compressor from. And yes I did convert it to 134. Do you have an FE motor? Someone on here should be able to sell you the engine components. I'll be on the lookout also. Are you goiing to Moultrie?

Well, I'm kinda building a mutt truck. I'm putting a 351w in it and converting to serpentine belts. I have all the brackets and pulleys that I got off of a mid 80's truck. I'll be using a Sanden style compressor. Since I'm doing a frame off restomod on my truck I'll probably wind up going aftermarket. What's in Moultrie?

I am going to be using the old air products IP-6772. It goes under the dash and has it's own controls so I can keep the 67 controls in the dash for the heater. The rest of the parts are going to come off of the 77 mercury doner car. I hope it will work good but not sure when I will have it all done.
