Maybe someone else can pipe in with a little more info. Isn't that about when Ford started calling our trucks the "three man cab"? :hmm:

All I saw in those pictures was drivers and passenger lap belts. Maybe they started the 3 man lap belt on the 70 F100.

Ok, I found all the answers In needed for this question.

1)67 was just a 2 lap belts
2)3rd lap belt was available as a dealer accessory or at the parts counter in 1968.

So how did the seatbelts release when latched together? Button or pulled on part of the latch to release it?

The stock belts in my buddy's 67 were button release.

My '70 looks like it had the center belt added later. The driver and passenger are push button and the center is an old chrome latch, not the newer chrome latches on the aftermarket replacements.

Hi, I have a few questions for those that have three seat belts...
Does the middle seat belt use the same bolt connections as the passenger and driver side belts?

right now my '70 has driver and passenger side lap belts.

My plan is adding a middle seat lap belt and two shoulder belts for the driver and passenger side.

I have been doing my homework and getting ready for my seatbelt project....

robroy does a great job explaining the process for the shoulder belts......
http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &sk=t&sd=a

you can see the label diagram from the seatbelt maker warning against using two connections to one bolt.

is that safe? Do I have to drill a new connection?

thanks

Re: Seatbelt Question

I ran a center seat belt from SeatBeltPros with my setup. Our trucks that came with center belts used the driver and passenger side inner bolts for the center belt and this is how I did mine. So the outer holes on each side by the doors held my retractors, and then the inner holes held a connector for the passenger side and drivers side, and then each side of the center belt. So the inner bolts each held 2 belts.

You can drill new holes if you want, but the stock holes are reinforced and the bolts are pretty thick and sizeable. You could replace them with class 8 bolts if you want to make it more secure, but I think you are okay with this setup. The seatbelt company HAS to put those warnings on their belts to reduce liability.

Thanks so much, I feel better

I was hoping do it the same way Ford did it originally.

Robroy's diagram from his 72 shop manual showed the center belt coming from the same connection.

I just got a little worried when I saw the warning label

I definitely want to get this project correct.
