Storage box for Cab

Post by fordfe360 »

Hi Folks,
I own a 1968 Ford F100 (automatic) and would like a storage "box" to weld or bolt to the transmission hump to hold hunting stuff like ammo, flashlights, pocket knife, sunglasses etc. Have not been able to find anything online. Any thoughts or comments or lessons learned on what can be used for this purpose would be appreciated.

Regards,

Jack

I agree and have considered a metal ammo box. The one I have is too narrow and I will continue to look around for one with different dimensions.

I was just thinking maybe you can get a bunch of narrow ammo boxes (3 to 4) and welding them together side-to-side.

Some of the 1994 f150/250/350 had a cup holder at the front of the seat I thought it had a little spot for junk just ahead of the cup holder.

Being a wood worker I just custom build my own. Or with a rivet gun or welder you could fabricate just what you want out of metal.

I thought about welding several narrow ammo boxes together as well. I have a large ammo box that would work, but it is really deep and not as wide as I would like. The Tuffy site had some neat stuff but did not see anything that would work.

Interestingly enough, a 12 pack beer box placed on its wide side is the right size for me (or a little longer and taller). Something with some slots perhaps so that you could
place dividers and create compartments of different widths.

Being a woodworker also I have had a custom wooden box in the bump on the hump for about 25 years. One small metal screw is all it takes to hold it secure if built right and makes it easy top remove. Mine has two drink holders and then a flip up lid in front where my conceal carry pistol and other Junk is put. I would be lost without it. I have not had a glove box in years. Too far away to reach in a hurry anyway.
