Intermittent wiper switch

Post by broncojeep »

So, I got one of those intermittent wiper switches from another member months ago and am just now getting around to installing it. I can't find the correspondence from the person that sent it to me. Can anyone help me with the installation? It is from a newer Ford truck. I pulled all the wires from the back of the original switch and plugged them all into the new swith. I have one wire left from the original switch and also what appears to be a ground wire from the new switch. I just want to be sure that I am doing this right. As of right now, I only have the low speed operating on the motor and I cannot get any wiper fluid. Guidance please?!?!?!

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'one wire left over from the original switch'. Do you have the governor that goes along with the new switch? If not, you'll need that. Check out this write-up. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wiperdelay.htm The ground wire on the new switch is not needed since the switch grounds through the dash. Hope this helps.

OK so it is all working now. I found that the tutorial had different information that didn't necessarily match my truck. The old switch had the main harness that plugged into the switch and also to 'lone ranger' wires, one was black and one was black/white. The black one seems to be the power to the washer pump, I have no idea what the black/white one goes to so it is just hanging behind the cluster for now, but at least the delay/low/high and washer pump are all now working.

I'm in the same boat - with a '67.
The harness plugs in. Then there are 2 extra wires with only 1 spade on the new switch.
What's the extra wire? And what do I do with it?
Thanks in advance.
