Dyeing Dash Pads

Whats the procedure to dyeing a black dashpad to a lighter color. I was told there kits to bleach it but I couldnt find it under google search. I wanna go from black to medium blue. I found the paint from duplicolor website.

Based on my recent experience with Duplicolor Vinyl paint, I would recommend going that route. A dash pad should take 1 can, and you can get it at most of your auto parts stores for around $7. I know that Auto Zone, O'Rileys, Napa, and Pep Boys all carry it. Here is the thread where I just did some seats for another member on here:

How well will the medium blue cover the black?

I was surprised at how well the vinyl paint covered. As you can see from the pics in that other thread, the red covered the darker blue completely without any showing through. A few coats and it will be completely covered without any trace of the old color. The fabric did not cover quite as complete, but you don't have to worry about that with the dash pad. It will cover completely.

Rustoleum also makes a vinyl paint that gets good reviews. I can only speak for the duplicolor as that is what I used, but I have heard good things from the Rustoleum also. Here are their colors: http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=370

Thanks. I bad experiences with duplicolor nozzles on the spray can due to the set up and style on how there made. I have better success spraying with a rustoleum can than duplicolor can.
