:hmm: First thought would be :nono: as your spline count comes from the axle.....I" believe :? ...I've been wrong before :shh:
This might help..... http://www.kevinstang.com/Ninecase.htm :dk:
or were you asking if a 31 set up would fit in the 9" that has 28 in it now :? ...lot's of good info on that site
I've had enough and I'm not alone

The spline count on the axle has to match the spline count on the spool.

Absolutely true. Trying to put a 31 spline axle in a 28 spline carrier would be like trying to thread a fine thread nut on a course thread bolt, they may both be 3/8", but it's not going to work right!

If you are talking about the 9in axles in our trucks, yes they are the same either side. The 68-72 trucks that have 28 spline 9in rearends both axles are 29 15/16" long on both sides so they can be swapped side to side.

68-72 trucks also came with 31 spline axles in 9 and 9 3/8 rears. The 68-72 28 spline axles are 29 15/16 long and the 31 spline axles are 29 13/16 long. Hawkrod
