wont go into gear

Post by kyle ray »

i looked all the way back to june of 2011 and did not see the exact problem listed by another poster.
1968 F100 360, 3 speed. i had trans rebuilt about 2 years ago, since then put about 1000 miles on it.
in this time i got laid off and got a couple of different jobs and ended up purchasing a 2001 f150 for a daily driver. so the 68 just sat . anyway now when i tried to take it for a drive last week, the truck wont shift into gear. truck starts, i push the clutch in but you cant put in gear. today i got my son to depress the clutch while i was under it, with the cover off and it looks like everything is working correctly. however there is no more adjustment on the clutch linkage to push it (the fork) further. i dont know what to do
and the wife says i cant take it anywhere right now. $$$$$$ (she has never liked the truck) haha. any ideas?
thanks, kyle

I haven't tried to start it in gear. it will slip into gear if the engine is off ( with or without the clutch pressed). I dont know what that means though...... i am going to try this now.......will report back in a few.
