I'm not understanding your complaint. It shifts too soon? Sloppy 2nd gear shift?
Need more info

What about the shift linkage or detent? Have you recently chached cab bushings? Bad motor or trans mount?

Re: C-6 trans problem
As Bobby said, we need more info.........first check your kickdown rod for binding on a hose or not returning..this is the easy 1st check
Then , a brief explanation of the operation: your trans is a 3 speed, in the D position it starts in 1st, then when the time is right, it will shift into 2nd, all by itself, then later into 3rd.
Are you saying that it starts out in first OK, then slips going into 2nd, only some times? This is what I think that you are saying.
Or are you getting 2nd gear starts? Is 3rd OK? You may have a servo problem or possibly just need a band adj.....
Supply us with more data & we will help you.........Donnie

Re: C-6 trans problem
Sorry about not enough info, when you take off with the selector in drive it sometimes will go into drive two position and won't let you get up to speed and you have to shift it back into the drive position. Its like it the trans go into a pulling gear by it self, its kind of like the the selector jump out of drive and into drive 2. the trans shift fine threw the start up and into normal speed most of the time its like if you take off to fast you can feel it jump into dive 2. Where you have P R N D 2 1 on the selector it will go into #2 on pull of when you have it in drive, and again it seem to have to do when you take off on a hill or a little faster than normal. Thanks for the reply Steve Sorry i forgot to include the motor came out of a 69 mach 1 mustang and i'm not sure if the trans is original to the truck. it doesn't have anything to do with normal driving it only on take off. thanks

Sounds like a motor mount/trans mount issue

Re: C-6 trans problem
Thanks for all the reply i found a couple of the bolts loose where it mounts to back of the motor and a nut loose on the trans kick down linkage i have drove it about fifty miles and haven't had any more issues. Hoping these fixed it. thanks again,Steve

Re: C-6 trans problem
Yea, i think the things that everyone pointed out where exactly the issues, i also adjusted the idle screw and when i come to a stop i can feel the trans kicking down, which i think allows the truck to take of at lower gear or speed i hope i'm saying this right. thanks steve
