rear axle bearings

Post by 69f-100 »

i have seen and heard of two different types of axle bearings for the ford 9". i was trying to look for places that i might be able to get them and the seals for my 69 2wd bump. i went out and removed the axle and i has this style of bearing:
Image
part number on the bearing is F-208A-KK the seal fits inside the tube like this:

where are you guys finding these at? were there two different styles for our bumps.

I get mine at the local CarQuest. NAPA will have them, too. Just tell them you want U.S. made bearings; Chinese bearings are junk.

Not sure what you mean. What you have is a typical axle bearing for a 9". As far as I know the only difference in bearings would be for 28 or the optional 31 spline axle.
There should be a universal bearing number on the side of your old bearing. They will need to be pressed on and off.

the other style i have seen must be for 31 spline then. the other style i'm talking about have a bearing race but they must be non bump era 9" rear ends. thanks bobbyford for your help.

I've never seen a non-sealed axle bearing on a 9" axle.

The bearings on my 31 spline axles are sealed and are larger than both of those pictured. They are about $100 a piece. #RUB-1580-EBFR

Bobby.....I stole the info from here... http://kevinstang.com/Ninecase.htm
maybe it'll shed light into your set up .....I've got the same small bearing as 69f-100 and didn't know it until they(my buddy) asked me at Napa if I needed small or large bearing

As it pertains to our trucks, I believe "small and large" bearing refers to 28 or 31 spline axles. I've never seen a tapered bearing like the one pictured as "large", in a 1/2 ton pick up.
