Hey guys,
I have a 1968 Ford F250 Camper Special. 390 engine 4 barrel automatic transmission (C6) 2 wheel drive
I have no kick down linkage should it have one or a cable. If so where can I go to try and get one.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Russell

Re: Kick down linkage.
All of mine have been rods as the linkage pushes rearward when you depress the accelerator pedal. I think a wrecking yard would be your best bet.

Re: Kick down linkage.
It should have a kinkdown rod connecting the tranny linkage to the carb throttle linkage...if you want passing gear available when some old fart like me refuses to drive faster or give up the road. With the rod in place, when you romp on the gas pedal the tranny downshifts and away you go until you let off the gas and the tranny shifts into 3rd...lots of fun and a great way to burn up a lot of Obama's $4 gas, too. Comes in handy every now and then if you drive in lots of traffic.
Is the 4V carb stock or aftermarket like Holley, Edelbrock, etc? If it's stock Autolite or Holley, it should have a place on the throttle arm to connect the kickdown rod.

both my Holley and my Edelbrock had provisions for the kickdown linkage. But I think he said he has the stock Carb.

lokar makes the kit. you can also try ebay. I like lokar stuff, its braided stainless with hook-ups. I have one on my rig and I can pass anything on the road but a gas station. Trick

Our trucks never came stock with 4BBL carbs. If you get a stock kickdown rod it'll have to be lengthened a bit to reach the 4BBL carb.
You can see where mine has bee cut and lengthened

Holley also has a bolt-on extension for the kick down rod.BobbyFord wrote:Our trucks never came stock with 4BBL carbs. If you get a stock kickdown rod it'll have to be lengthened a bit to reach the 4BBL carb.
