Seat replacement ideas
I was curious what ideas some of you had came up with for replacement seats. I have a 68 Ranger, the original seat is in remarkably good shape, just finished painting my interior, have new carpet but wondering what might be a upgrade from original. Id love to see some pictures of later model seats or other ideas. Im not sure if I want to stray from original but I have no clue what might look good. I dont want anything that sticks up above the rear glass which may not leave many options

Re: Seat replacement ideas
I sat in a 1991 F-150 at Pick-n-Pull recently and it was nice. Very comfy with good lumbar support. If someone hadn't put greasy parts on it I would have bought it. My next seat is going to be fabric, when my current seat gets hot it is uncomfortable, plus things slide across it easily (my dog).

Re: Seat replacement ideas
I'm torn between 65-66 Mustang buckets or a newer bench style with console. I, also, don't like something sticking up the back windshield. While I think the look of the original factory style buckets is really a clean look, I'd like to be able to tote my grandkids around and a newer style bucket/console type would definitely be more practical and convenient. Saw a '51 Effie at the local cruise in a couple of weeks ago with BMW seats in it. They looked real nice and were low back buckets with retractable/removable headrests and a flip up center console.

Re: Seat replacement ideas
I got a bench seat from a 94 F150 with center fold down arm rest. The only mod needed was to drill off the old mounts from the seat tracks on the original seat and then it bolted right on to the newer seat and lined up fine with the existing holes.

That seat looks awesome!! Was that seat the original and modified or what did it come out of? Also, I have a friend that has boocoos of 69/70 seats and parts here in NC if you want his email...

Re: Seat replacement ideas
This is a original seat that was done for a 67 someone was restoreing. If i remember right they cut out new foam and made the seat cover. I found it one night while surfing around at different sites. Ive been saveing this picture so i can show it to whoever i get to recover my seat when i get to that point, I can only wish that was my seat
I like the look of the seat because it trys to make bucket seats out of a bench seat, My hat is off to the guy who thought of that one.
Seems the web page is down but heres a link to the shop that redone the seat,,,if it ever come up again http://www.terrybrothersinc.com/

They are close to me and I need a new seat. I'll check to see if they are still in business.

Re: Seat replacement ideas
I am looking at options as well. There is about 4-5" between my back and the back wall of the truck with my stock seat. The seat is perfect condition wise, but I am a bit crowded and my old legs like room. I would like to find a seat that lets me use 2-3" of that room.
I am thinking about three buckets mounted on the original hardware. I am a Volvo 240 fan, and they have a very simple seat with awesome comfort. They are a short seat, and the funky headrests come out, wide and flat enough to be easy in and out. Seems like they are thin at the top, but not sure.
I have to get ahold of my niece who has my last 240 and do some measuring.
Its funny, I had a 72 new, and when I was 18 I do not remember the seat being that uncomfortable. Seat must have changed.......
