Torque converter

Post by RCF100 »

I got a 72 with a 390 and c6 trans, so far I have a edelbrock intake and carb with kooks longtube headers rest is stock. I am currently tearing the truck down to install a cv IFS. While I have the trans off I wanted to install a torque converter while I got help and in the near future I am going with the Lunati 62001LK voodoo cam. I have been looking at the 2400 B&M holeshot but is it good or some of the other brands better. After the cam and porting the heads that is as far as I am going to take the motor so this wont be a high horsepower engine so probably just need a mild torque converter any shops you guys would recommend buying from?

I don't believe you'd need anything but a stock converter for that camshaft.

One of the really great things about the 67 to 72 trucks is that they were seriously overbuilt in some areas. The torque converter is a great example. Now think about it. That same engine trans and torque converter powered some of the largest mobile homes of the day. It also powered some of the most reliable delivery trucks of the day and a good portion of often overloaded and badly used farm trucks with a high degree of dependability. There are good reasons off the shelf Ford parts are often sourced for performance use.
