72 F250 C6 How to Put into Park

Post by JPC1972 »

Excuse my dumb question but i need to put my C6 in park. I removed the shift linkage and then removed the steering wheel but when i did this i moved it out of park and i don't know how to place it into back into park. The truck was on an incline and started to roll back but luckily i had my cel and called a buddy while I held it in place til we could brick the tires. I am trying to figure out how to get the trans lever back into park so i can install my Lokar shifter.

I believe, if the trans linkage is below the pan that the lever should be moved forward to engage the parking pawl.

Thanks BobbyFord.. it is below the pan I am going to assume forward means downward.. when i move the lever it goes from a top to bottom movement with the angled lever pointing foward towards the engine when it moves downward and pointing staight up or backwards towards the bed when I move it upward.

thanks evan_flatt69 i spoke with lokar earlier today and they confirme when the lever is moved up towards the rear of the tranny (or like you said up to the sky) it is in park.
