So, I'm installing the main bearings in my motor and grab the box with the caps to check clearance on the crankshaft. Tucked away with everything I find this.
The parking pawl and pin that I pulled from my transmission last year. A couple months ago I had the transmission rebuilt at a local shop. I had everything torn down already, and in a box. I asked them to go through everything with me before I left to make sure I had everything. We went through it and found that I was missing the valve body which was in a different box. I give them the valve body, and a couple days later I get my transmission back.
I've played with it since then cycling through the gears by hand and turning the yoke by hand. When I put it in park and turn the yoke a little it does lock into place. Without assuming anything, can I guess that they just took a pawl from whatever stock they had and installed it, or will the transmission still fall into park without it? I will be going down on Monday to ask them about it, and seeing what needs to be done if it really is missing.
Thanks for the replies.

Trans will not lock park without the pawl. They must've installed another.

Thanks for the info. I'll check with the shop on Monday. I'm just surprised that the shop never mentioned it or charged me for it.
