Fire Extinguisher?

Post by blue68 »

I was in the local Junk yard the other weekend and my Dad spotted a 1969 LWB Ranger with a fire extinguisher mounted on the passenger side kick-panel. The truck was in horrible condition, and the fire extinguisher was too. It looked like it had been mounted there for at least 30 years. Was this a dealer option or something, or do you guys think someone just added it on when they got the truck.

My dad was alive back when these trucks were new, and he thinks it may be factory equipment.

I have no clue, but if it is factory, thats pretty sweet!

rjewkes , that's not the speedo needle that you see. It's a "redline" that's factory. I forgot which year trucks. I know my 67 had it.

Yeah, it's the "please don't drive this fast because your engine might blow up" warning strip.

I've got one in my '71 hiboy in the same spot, but it was added later as it is newer looking and the extinguisher is still charged.

Yeah, most new cars have governors (Rev-limiters). My brother's daily driver, a 2005 V6 Mudstain will not go past 113 mph. Who really needs to go that fast anyway :)
