I made a holding fixture, for the transmission, this weekend to make the tear-down/rebuild of the transmission a lot easier.
The raw materials; a 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of boxed tubing --(an old hand rail), and a 7" long 2-3/8" O.D. piece of round tubing:
1.

2. My 1:1 scale paper template:

3. The boxed tubing cut. Ready to be bead blasted and then welded together:

4. Holding fixture all fabbed up:

a.

b.

c.

d.

I guess it didn't turn out too bad considering I don't own a lathe, mill or any precision cutting equipment and also the fact that I've never had any formal instruction on how to weld either.
