tranny filter

Post by youngone »

Hello I just went to change the c4 tranny filter in my 70 and a spring and a T shaped piece of metal fell out any idea where it goes. It came out when I pulled the filter down,...Thanks in advance.....Pat.

Hi, you are lucky that you caught it, you trans would expire SOON if you did not catch it....Many folks miss this & end up frying the unit.
If you look at your new filter, you will see a tab sticking out from the edge, this is the tab that holds the spring & "nail head" in place..it is actually a relief valve. Any way the valve "T" sits into the spring & the valve goes into the valvebody first, with the spring resting on the tab on the filter...... ......Donnie
