CD player in dash pics
So I know some of you have used the Volvo mounting plate for putting a CD player in our trucks. I cut my old spare bezel when I added one in mine and have never been fully satisfied with the way it looks. It does work, but I just don't care too much for it. Does anyone have a picture of the Volvo part in use so I can see what it looks like???

I'm not sure what kind of mount this is, just a generic, I think.

I like the inverter setup in the ashtray. I would prefer the stainless steel cover myself

The dashes are already painted underneath you just have to be careful when pulling the pad off the studs underneath it don't scratch the paint off. your left with the mounting holes which you could fill but in my case I was still up in the air about putting a new pad on when I had the money I just repainted the dash with the rest of the interior and don't even really notice the holes anymore. Only problem with the painted dash is the glare when the sun hits it just right. Here is a pic of my stereo mount, I didn't want it in my dash so I could use the radio delete plate.

Fordman you could talk to customcrewcab about making you a delete plate out of polished aluminum like the knobs and bezels he's been workin on. I have an obsession with having the original delet plate in the because my dads 69 had it and he refused to remove it to install a radio even when I offered. So to this day still no tunes in that ride and a wierd addiction to having them in there.

i have a cassette player installed with out the bezel. my radio had side to side adjustment on the knobs and could be moved to fit it the dash bracket but not in the bezel. i need like an 1/8 or 1/16 to get the bezel to fit but i couldn't get it. without grinding the bezel. and i didn't want to grind it out.

I came across this, and think its a great idea. The stereo and speakers both are built into this removable homemade box.

Yea, I like the metal dash look too although I have since put on a nice black dash pad. The color is rangoon red (Dupont). Like 460 said, the dash is already painted and if you are careful it should look great when you get the old pad off. They don't always though. Take a look at the dash on my 68 in this photo. I just got the pad off yesterday. I'm going to try and do some cleaning today and I'll take an "after" photo. How did you do the dash? It looks great.

re: CD player in dash pics
Okay, I'm feeling retarded. My younger brother gave me a nice, older Panasonic CD deck and I want to put it into my truck. However, my dash looks like this...

I could get out the cutoff wheel and trim it to size, but I'd rather not make the inside of my truck look like crap. I know the black plate will cover it, but...what do I attach the Metra plate to?
