Steering wheel
Can some one tell me where i can get a red steering wheel and a horn setup, my steering wheel has been painted, has cracks, and the Ford emblem came off as well as the horn (all happend before i bought) so if i could get a steering wheel rather than an aftermarket one, that would be great

Re: Steering wheel
I believe that both DC:
http://www.dennis-carpenter.com/
And NPD:
http://www.npdlink.com/
have them, but get ready for "sticker shock" as they are not cheap!
If it were for my truck I'd post a "parts wanted" here:
http://www.fordification.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13
And then use this search engine on evilboy to try and locate a used one:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid= ... l&_sacat=0
Keep in mind that the steering wheels changed on our trucks in 1970 I believe. Go about half way down the first page here to see the differences:

Re: Steering wheel
In addition to the info that Jeff gave you above I would suggest doing a search of YouTube videos on steering wheel repair. I have seen some excellent tutorials on there for the process that were made by professionals in the trade. I think you will find that its a pretty forgiving but labor intensive process. There are also tutorials available for specific repair compounds....kits.....and required tools. You might find that it may be quite cost efficient to repair your existing wheel and just replace the horn setup. Also try posting up a pic of your wheel on here. If you do have a 68 wheel there is a trick to installing the horn button and removing it. It holds itself on with no other attatching hardware. Removing or installing one is a simple matter of disconnecting the negative battery terminal to temporarily disable the horn setup and pushing in and twisting the horn button on the wheel. Always try and remember that the more pics you can post of your problem on here the better off you are going to be getting effective help. That old saying about a picture being worth a thousand words is double true here on the forum. You have access to some brilliant minds on here when it comes to these old trucks and you would be surprised how much info they can provide you with a visual of the problem as opposed to just a text description.

Re: Steering wheel
Wow, your 2 weeks late. I had probably the only NOS "Red" steering wheel known to exist. Just sold it and the customer is super exited.Youngkidoldtruck wrote:Can some one tell me where i can get a red steering wheel and a horn setup, my steering wheel has been painted, has cracks, and the Ford emblem came off as well as the horn (all happend before i bought) so if i could get a steering wheel rather than an aftermarket one, that would be great

Re: Steering wheel
I was planning to go aftermarket (after my PS upgrade), but think that I'll try to repair what I got. Eastwood sells several levels of repair kits:
http://search.eastwood.com/search?w=ste ... eel+repair
I'm gonna ask Mama for a kit for Christmas, then repair my steering wheel over the winter months. Someone else on the forum suggested that our wheels are 40+ years old, so they're not going to shrink anymore, and you have nothing to lose. So, what the heck; if I screw up, I can always go aftermarket, or find an old one on the 'bay.

By the way, I like your signature line!

Re: Steering wheel
early Falcons use the same steering wheel and usually sell at a lower price. I don't recall the vendor but they were selling it for $99.
