Putting in a tilt steering column

Post by J_Boo »

Right now, I have a 67 w/ manual steering. Going to switch to power steering and talking to a gentleman with a 79 tilt column. I am curious as what is going to be needed to do this? Plug modifications? Will it bolt right up? The steering box I have is a saginaw out of a 78 f100. I heard there may be a how to guide on here? But I can't seem to find it.

You will need one from a power steering column.

I was able to grab a firewall mounting plate from a junk yard. It even has a stamp in it saying "PWR STRG", or something like that. No idea how that fits in with a tilt column, though.

Because he is going from a manual column to a power tilt column. The manual and power columns use different brackets, as you said yours is stamped for power steering.
