Radio dash tabs, ear thingys gone
So what do you guys do when some POS PO cut the tabs that the stock radio bolts to in the dash. I know of the obvious repair of welding in new tabs, but I was hoping that there were some other solutions out there.

Are you wanting a shaft style radio, like the original, or a modern single DIN style? For the shaft style, I would think you would probably HAVE to weld in new tabs, as they are a primary means of support for the unit.
For a modern single DIN style, you will still need something there to screw the face plate to, but it wouldn't have to be tabs. Just a couple of pieces of sheet metal would do.
Here is how I installed a single DIN stereo in Frodo, my '69 F250.

Good luck! I hope this helps.

Which really wouldn't be a big deal. MIG welding doesn't really generate very much heat. Plus, the bezel will hide a lot.

I knew welding would be an option, but I was hoping that there would be something else I could try.
Thanks for the input.
