Sorry for cross posting, but it fit here as well and I need a response...
Okay , I found a couple of problems,
First this is a 1972 F250 manual steering .
Now the issues I seen is first is the driver side rear cab mount is toast, it drops the cab about a 1/4" to 3/8" 's of a inch down.
next is the steering shaft lower bearing near the rag joint is needing to be replace, it does not look like it has been done, so I am going to assume the rest of the column is going to need some parts replacing.
Next when i had someone move the shifter , I could see the front arm of the gear box move but not the nut that holds it in place, am I correct that it should move with the arm since it holds it in place ?
And where can i purchase need ones ?
Need a question anwered please

You'll want to do something about that cab mount or steering column repairs will not last long. The drop of the cab from the cab mount is definitely going to cause the lower bearing to wear out and you may have excess wear on the steering shaft at that place where the column bearing sits. That was what I encountered when I rebuilt my column. I spent a total of $85 and replaced every "wearable" part from top to bottom. They don't "repop" the steering shaft so I got one from another member.

If I get where you're talking about (transmission), I believe so. On mine (Ford 3spd), I had an issue with the nut routinely backing off. The lever has a slot in it and the sides of the shaft are flat. Seals were leaking so that area was constantly wet with oil. When she got difficult to shift, I'd have to crawl back under and snug that nut.
And where can i purchase need ones ?
I bought flanged nuts and jam nuts at my local hardware store. Tighten the flange nut snugly and then use the jam nut to keep it from backing off.
