Torque Converter/Flexplate

Post by GIJoe4500 »

I'm so frigging confused right now. I'm looking to pick up a flexplate and a ~2000 stall torque converter to put behind a 1985 460. Engine use to be in front of a standard transmission, now going in front of a c6.

What torque converter bolt circle, and crank pilot diameter should I be purchasing for? Everything I think is right, ends up being like $1200!

Help? Please?

If you are going to use a 12" converter...the crank pilot size is 1.375 & the bolt spread for this converter should be 11 1/2"
Your flexplate should have 164 teeth............ from 1979 or 1980 onward there is a weighted plate used....possibly 2 diff. weights??? :hmm:
THE ABOVE INFO IS FROM MY HEAD & NOT TO BE CONSIDERED ACCURATE< but it is what I can recall.......
Some one else will chirp in with more info....possibly a dealer tech or parts ,man on the forum
I know the conv. pilot & bolt spread for a 12" conv is accurate...........not sure about the weight, or dish / offset
What is it that you are trying to achieve? Towing? Racing?
What are you installing this into?
What are you getting for 1200 bux? :? ................................Donnie

I believe I still have the one I pulled from my 79' 460 that had a C-6 in it, (used flexplate). Maybe see if Bobbyford or someone here with the 460/C-6 combo can confirm what tooth and if the weight will work from the 79' to your 85 block?
