I haven't seen any other fill configurations with the Mustang coversion. If it was routed to one of the bedsides, I feel you may run into issues trying to fill it up, or would have to pump fuel very slowly to prevent a backup in the tube. I'm sure the fill could be relocated to the side, but that is another hassle.Coupe5oh wrote: This is the best pic I have, and how it sits now. I'd like to move the filler somewhere other than the middle of the bed floor (just to be different), but I doubt if space will really allow for that. The top of the tank is pretty flush with the top of the frame. Have you seen any done differently? I'd be open to suggestions.

Something I've seen that may work is to make a little upside down c-notch in the frame and modify the tank to place the filler on the side. This one here is pretty big, not mine just something I found googling, doesnt need to be that big if you use a smaller diameter hose. Actually I'm surprised by how narrow some of the newer vehicle filler hoses are. Just an idea. great work btw

Thanks!
The side fill tank in that pic would work great w the frame notch. Pretty slick idea. When I set the bed on it I may give something like that a look.
As for the wheels... I'm really wanting to do something like a true forged or ccw. Unfortunately I may have to sell a kidney or my first born to afford a set. These are the ones I like, TF Victories. Gonna shoot for a 20x9 front and maybe 20x 12-14 rear. I will just have to see how deep I'm buried in this thing when I get to that point. I might have to run it on donut spares.

Is there any particular reason why you flipped that rear crossmember so that it hangs lower than when it is installed the other way? I was thinking about doing mine that way and working in a recessed hitch but I don't have my bed on right now and I have no idea how that will line up with a roll pan.

It won't clear the bed structure with it flipped up. I'm just going by what everyone else had done, haven't had my bed back on since I started the project to see what it all looks like.

Have been getting a little accomplished lately. Got the steering shaft and the new brake booster mocked up. Got my dad to help me hang the doors. Baby steps....

Looks awesome, man. I'd love to shoot down 44 and see this truck sometime, maybe when it's running or if you need a hand with anything in particular. How's the engine coming? Do you have the controller installed?
Again - looking good!

Thank you sir. I haven't bought the control pack yet, have been procrastinating about coughing up the $$$ for it. But I'm about to the point where I'm going to need it running for paint/ final assembly. I also still need a radiator/ fuel system. I'm running out of cheap stuff to do. :/ I would be happy to show it to you any time. I have a good friend that lives up your way, so if nothing else I'll bring it up there when its done. I'd like to check your truck out sometime too.

That sounds like a plan. I'm gonna try to drive the wheels off this thing, maybe we could pick a car show or cruise somewhere in the middle. I hope to have it done before summers over.

Re: 67- SWB, CV swap, 2007 3v 4.6/ 5 sp
[quote="Coupe5oh"]So I got a little more done the past couple of days. It's been like 105 here, so I've just worked as long as I could stand the heat... Had to re-do my crown Vic pan install when I realized that the 2v pickup I put in was a smaller diameter and could cause a massive oil leak at the pump. Not good, so I made the original pickup work in the CV pan by giving the baffle a bit of surgery.
Glad your shifter swap worked thats cool that you got to use they hydro clutch set up to, I'm going cable as of right now. What did you use for motor mounts the crown vic ones? Any pics of the difference between the two oil pans? I'm still dreaming of a new coyote, biggest pain will be if I want to run ac and power steering and not pay 1600 for a system
Just found out Ron Francis is making a kit for the 4.6 3v little cheaper than the ford but not sure if it comes with the pedal and bullitt style cai. http://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MG-05

Re: 67- SWB, CV swap, 2007 3v 4.6/ 5 sp
I don't have any pics of the pan, but the mustang one was more rounded at the transition to the sump. The Crown Vic pan is squared off there to clear the crossmember. It was pretty close to fitting but hit about 1/2 before the motor mounts were seated (I did use CV ones, bolted right up). I thought about raising the motor a little bit, but bought a nice cv pan for cheap.
Everything is going to work fine w the clutch/ shifter I hope. I still have to get a reservoir and try to bleed it. The shifter feels pretty decent. I put urethane bushings in it to hopefully help it a little bit.
I hadn't seen the Ron Francis kit, will have to check it out. I guess the ford kit isn't so bad when you figure up all you get with it, still a lot of dough. I know what you mean about dreaming of a new 5.0. So easy to make big power with. Maybe some day...

Re: 67- SWB, CV swap, 2007 3v 4.6/ 5 sp
Thanks for the oil pan info, I'm looking into more about coyote pans there are a few aftermarket ones out now. On my 2008 mustang my first mod was to swap the stock shifter for a Hurst much nicer, but not all mustang guys agree some like other aftermarket lots of used ones cheap on mustang forums.
One tool I picked up that helps with bleeding is a phoenix systems reverse bleeder works great.
Watch ebay Ive seen a few of the control packs go below $1100.
Just put a blower on your 4.6 even then still probably cheaper than a coyote, but i'm 90% sure I'm going coyote wife said just buy it already.
Right now I have a blazer tank and I think I'll run the filler either up into the stake pocket or tailight or maybe inside bed side still playing with that .
